It seems like our last 'muse' letter from February was so long ago. Just last month we were talking about the power of personal connections, touch in particular. Now, we are spending our days at home with limited company, really getting a full dose of the inner and proximal outer worlds we have created for ourselves.
How does it feel?
Personally, I am amazed that the universe has called us out, driving our attention to what so many of us were wishing for on a subconscious level. Over the past few years, it felt like we were headed steadfast and hyper-speed into the unknown digital future, on a deadline to get there, and make it to the top by beating some algorithm.
I kept thinking, "where are we going with all of this? Don't you wish everything could just STOP and slow down?"
Well, here we have it. Besides those who are dutifully working to keep those in need (all of us) healthy, safe, and alive (well done and many thanks to all of you), many of us are now pausing to receive this unique opportunity to find our feet in this existence, and remind ourselves what being alive is all about.
For everyone, this is a chance to recognise whether we are living life and growing in personal fulfilment through creativity, passion, and service, or if life is living us making each day an obstacle course to get though, waiting for the next step that will make all the hard work worth it - only to repeatedly struggle over and over again.
Here are a few reflection questions you may want to ask yourself:
Take a moment to close your eyes, and take a breath.
Right now, am I comfortable inside my body?
Can I be with my mind (and its contents)?
Do I feel pressure to be more than who I am?
If the answers to these point to discomfort in the body, or disturbance in the mind, and feelings of inadequacy or guilt, it's time to take your foot off the accelerator, and keep tuning in. Thankfully, if you can take a moment to feel these things, you are already on the way to consciously observing and releasing what may be holding you back from living more fully.
Even as your daily life continues with many of the same responsibilities, even modified work obligations, take this time to reflect, to journal, and to share your true desires with those you care about - those who care about you.
Here are a few more questions to help you reflect on your soul connection, and connections with others.
Do I find time regularly to replenish, filling my heart & soul with joy?
Have I been in touch with someone who uplifts me this week?
What have I been dreaming of doing, but haven't done yet?
You can write down what you currently do, or what you want to start doing moving forward. Start to direct your attention towards the people, places, and things you value most.
This is an amazing time for cultivating community, whether it's on a personal level (calling up an old friend or family member) or social (getting involved in local/global online groups), now is the time to 'find your tribe' and remind yourself of who you are destined to be.
When you feel loved and accepted for who you are, you allow yourself to shine brightly in your area of creative genius. I believe everyone wants to be recognised for their passion and interests. By voicing your heart’s desire, and reaching out to others who share your interests and/or want to support you, you begin to awaken the energy to flown in these new or dormant directions.
In the words of Alan Davidson, through “intention, attention, and no tension”, may you start attracting your heart's true calling!
