HOT YOGA
What is Hot Yoga?
Hot Yoga is a style of yoga that brings yoga postures and practices into a heated room. With temperatures ranging up to 40*C it can be considered more challenging than yoga without added heat. Moving in the heat gives you permission to feel deeply, sweat like crazy, focus on yourself, and commit to the knowledge that you will feel amazing afterwards. Hot Yoga followed by a shower and fresh juice makes you feel like there is nothing you can’t take on!
Why do Hot Yoga?
Yoga in the heat allows you to get into ‘the zone’ easily and quickly. Heat helps your muscles relax, gets the blood moving through the system with less physical effort, and therefore helps you stretch safely and with more comfort. It also feels nice, especially in colder weather, which happens pretty often here in Sheffield.
Whether you’re looking to detox the body or clear the mind, hot yoga is the way forward. Get in!
New to Hot Yoga?
It is often suggested before yoga and most physical activity to drink plenty of water, hold off on eating a large meal or consume alcohol/caffeine. In Hot Yoga, these are especially important to consider to have a safe and enjoyable experience. We recommend that you don’t eat or drink caffeine a minimum of two hours before class, and drink plenty of water the day before, the day of, and the day after your practice. Topping up with electrolytes will also help keep you clear-headed and cramp-free when practising regularly.
What to wear/bring: It is best to wear leggings and a vest top, or shorts and a T-shirt - any form-fitting clothes that you can expect to get wet. You can bring your yoga mat (if you have one). Hot yoga towels are compulsory so please bring your own or you can hire one of ours. You can also bring a towel to use if you would like to take a shower here after class. Mats and towels to hire for £1 each if needed.
Vinyasa Fire
In keeping with the vinyasa style, this class will see you moving continuously with regulated breath.
This class may be faster-paced with a more high-energy style that includes dynamic movement between poses, invigorating breathing, and less focus on posture alignment or technique. It may also move more slowly and rhythmically to generate a moving meditation.
This is ideal for those who are most comfortable with an energetic or fluid style practice - emphasised by the heat.
Hatha Fire
Hatha is the classical form of yoga that moves through a sequence of postures at a slower pace and stronger holds. There is more time to focus on alignment, strength, and balance.
Hatha Fire incorporates HEAT as a way of offering the opportunity to focus inwards, to feel sensations that arise, and to experience the energetic balance brought about by each posture.
Poses are usually held for between 5-7 breaths.
This class is a steady challenge and is excellent for building endurance and body awareness.
Fusion Fire
In keeping with the Fusion style, this class will see you exploring a variety of movement styles that will vary from session to session.
Fusion sessions will generally incorporate a combination of Vinyasa, Hatha, and Yin styles, and may incorporate a variety of warm-up and breathing techniques.
For example, you may warm up with Sun Salutation style movements, gain focus and strength through held Hatha postures and sink into a deep stretch with longer-held Yin postures. Or, you may begin with slower, floor-based warm-ups, and work towards more active postures.
This is an all-around hot yoga experience that will invigorate, strengthen, and deeply rejuvenate the body/mind. The intensity of the practices will be stronger due to the HEAT.
