HATHA YOGA
What is Hatha?
Hatha Yoga is the traditional term used for physically active yoga practices. As a style of class, it is a more static form of yoga that focuses on balance, strength, and stability. A perfect class for beginners and for those who are keen to build upon their knowledge of alignment and inner awareness. The teacher will guide you step-by-step into postures helping you to develop an awareness of the effects and benefits that each pose offers. Each posture is held for approximately 5-7 breaths. In these sessions, you can expect to focus on alignment, strength, and balance through the use of traditional yoga techniques including breathwork. Pose modifications and variations are offered, allowing you to learn what looks and feels best for your practice.
Why do Hatha?
By moving through a sequence of postures at a slower pace and stronger holds, there is more time to focus on alignment, strength, and balance. It is a wonderful practice for learning poses and becoming comfortable with inner and outer stillness. Through regular Hatha practice, yogis will develop mental focus and find strength in their meditation. Hatha also helps build stamina, by holding poses and increasing body awareness training. We offer Hatha sessions in the heat, and in ambient temperatures.
What to wear/bring:
It is best to wear leggings and a vest top, or shorts and a t-shirt. You can bring your yoga mat (if you have one) and a water bottle. You can also bring a towel to use if you would like to take a shower here after class. We have mats and towels to hire for £1 each if needed.
